Treatment for the Head and Face
Headaches
and Muscles of the faceDid you know that tension headaches are often caused by tight muscles that
are not even on the head but on the neck and shoulders? This is called
referred pain. When certain muscles on the neck and shoulders tighten and
pass the pain threshold due to accumulation of stress and tension (or other
factors such as repetitive stress or bad posture), Trigger Points on the
muscles are activated. These trigger points usually perpetuate this pain
cycle.
This is where Trigger Point Therapy works its
best magic. By applying gentle TPT to the relevant points on the tense
muscles, their resting tone can be lowered sufficiently to relieve the
tightness, and hence relieving the headache that it causes. Trigger Point
Therapy has proven to be highly successful in relieving headaches.
Similar treatment on trigger points in the TMJ area relieves
pain and tightness in the jaw .
